flowers of the tide

Floating in her own stillness as the shadowed reflections swirl and drift around her. The colours fading now to silvery veins shifting with the tides 

As I watch the tidal drift across the estuaries surface, the cottonwood flowers, drop into the water to drift across the surface with the wind and currents.  The reflections and shadows on the surface of the water creates dark and light areas and my thoughts turn to our lives riding out the challenges and disturbances that life can bring us. The flowers have a stillness and beauty  in that moment,  floating unaffected by the changes in the tides but they themselves will eventually disappear.
